frühstück (breakfast the german way, with bread and cheese) at café fleury.
prosecco berliners at a bakery in hamburg. it’s a new year tradition to eat a berliner at noon. i bought 3 berliners new year’s eve afternoon, and they were gone before noon the next day.
gorgonzola and spinach pizza at casa istoria. the waiter kept calling me “lady.”
fries with mayo and curry ketchup at 12:45am in hamburg.
new year’s eve dinner: raclette with friends, which was really good. i had never heard of raclette until that day. apparently it’s a big thing in germany? it’s part fondue, part grill. you can get a raclette grill at target. who knew?!
latte at café slörm. i drink coffee only when on vacation. i’m not sure why.
frühstück at kollberg35.
a simple cheese sandwich on a baguette is all i need. and orange juice — it always tastes so much better in europe.
bread & cheese. beer & wine. eating & drinking are a big part of my getaways. i give myself license to eat & drink what i want, usually because i walk for miles and manage to burn most of it off. but this trip? i felt so full and bloated when i got home (partially due to a tummy bug) that i’ve cut back dramatically on bread & cheese & beer & wine. but the pounds have not melted off, so i’m sure i’ll go back to old habits soon.
