moon

last weekend i came across this piece that i probably made in 2004/2005. it was in a stack of canvases, and for good reason. pretty blah. it wasn’t quite what i had intended for it to be. but i still pulled it out and stuck it on the windowsill.
the next day it was sunny, and with the piece in the window, i could see light through the canvas, paper, and paint, and it completely changed the piece for me. light from behind made it really work – there’s more texture and definition. i need to figure out a way to install a light behind the canvas.
this discovery has also inspired me to explore some pieces with light as an element. i’ll share what happens! larger image of moon after the jump…
