postcards : here / there

i dreamt up this little project back in september: pick 10 of my favorite polaroids, and have moo print up some postcards for me to give away with etsy orders. easy!
except the former graphic designer in me with a penchant for production perfection panicked. what dpi should i scan the polaroids?! 300? 600? more? should i replace my ancient scanner? do i color correct them?! RGB or CMYK? what file format should i use?! do i clean off every little speck of dust? and layout, oh the layout! include the polaroid border, or just the image? which program should i use to lay them out? all of these questions caused me to panic. and for 5 months, every weekend i said: “this is the weekend i do my postcards!” and then i’d freak out all over again.
until 2 weeks ago when i finally said “to hell with perfect, let’s just get them done” and in about 2 hours i had scanned them all in and created my jpg files and uploaded them and off they went. and now they’re here, and they’re perfect just the way they are.
i’ve put a few packs in my etsy shop in the event you need some postcards for your stationary stash. all profits go towards some means of therapy to help me get through my perfection anxieties. (and by therapy, i probably mean wine.)
happy weekend!

The postcards look great! I think success often happens when we let go of our thinking and just DO something. I over think everything. This means often the ideas in my head never come to fruition. And I LOVE where your proceeds go to. A very worthwhile cause indeed.

The postcards are lovely—what a great idea! Plus, I love creating a life for your images beyond just your personal Polaroid collection.

to quote a blogger, “i have never in my life seen such..”
jen, these photos are fab on your blog but 100x better printed to hold in my hand. Hands down favorite: brick, orange wall. WOW!! Second fav, rollercoaster.
i also love the latte because not only is it gorgeous it reminds me of your trip to seattle and your sharing bits with me in emails.
i’m definitely missing you these days.
