prototype

at last month’s photo meetup, sarah asked me to make a book that one could use to store fresh polaroids while during an outing, especially on chilly days: between the thighs and against the décolletage presents some awkwardness in public, and clothing fibers sometimes attach to wet emulsion.
my prototype: acid-free glassine bags, glued to the inside of a folded sheet of heavy weight paper. the bags are punched in the front with a circular punch, to allow for easy in/out. the book is coptic bound, for a quick/easy open. i didn’t insert a heat source (those pocket warmers popping up at retailers here could be used in some way!), but the book is small enough to pop into a pocket, or in your armpit.
i gave sarah the prototype last night. if it serves its purpose, i’ll make a few more for the shop.

this is great! too bad the bags aren’t see through so that it could be a storage book/photo album. still a great idea and i know everyone who takes polaroids on the go have found themselves in the “WTF do I do with this wet polaroid situation”…

very cool… and I think it would be a great photo album, or travel journal. you could sneak all your found scraps in the sweet pockets. your ideas are endless.

love your thinking. i am very impressed. one wonders how you can make it into just a photobook….

This is lovely! Your eye for detail is top-notch. I can totally see this as an artist book…

I love it for reasons even beyond polaroid drying. I’m thinking wine labels, found scraps of paper from behind cracked stairs, interesting wrappers, postcards……..on and on…….

ooh, so lovely….

this is brilliance! i’ve used pieces of grocery bags, but that is not the same thing. it never occurred to me to use full bags as pages. oh, i cannot wait to try this with my stash of little white bags. i can’t bind like you do, but i’m sure i’ll find some sort of schlocky workaround.
