polaroid collaboration : here
the thirteenth of twenty-four polaroid collaborations between me and the fabulous jen of scissors.paper.glue. we alternate picking a word, and on the last day of the month we each share our polaroid interpretation of that word.
september’s word was here.

jen: here is where i belong.

me: last week i wanted to stay here for a few more years. this week, i am not so sure.
(i wanna live in new york. a thirty-five year old with a mortgage and two dogs shouldn’t be thinking that, should she?)

Oh,you can think that. I always want to move to where I’ve had a good trip to. Of course, living somewhere is never like visiting.

Thanks for the reality check, Anna. Just like it’s nice to make lists of ideas, it’s nice to daydream about living in St. John, or Paris, or NYC.

Well, it’ s never too late to start again… I moved to the other side of the world and started again… okok… I wasn’ t 35 (25… ) but I did have a good job, carreer, appartment, car, friends, family…… as crazy as it seems, one can always come back. I rather that than spending the rest of my life wondering what could have happened…..
but don’ t listen to me… i tend to be a bit spontaneous and… crazy. Good luck though

most importantly, the photos are beautiful as well as the subject. in focusing we say, “if it feels right see if you can stay with both of those wantings right now, holding both of them and just sensing.” and then we wait and see what more wants to be known…embracing it all. ahhh. dream into all of it and let it take you where it wants you to go.

the 34 year old with more baggage, says go for it. surely the pooches can come and someone rent your place. live a whole lot.
besides, i think you would like a break from the long bitter winters, no? some more cliches if you never never go, you will never never know, you are only young once… is mr fish waiting for his fish there????

Again with the stellar polaroid collaboration!
I’ve been thinking about this now for a few days….so you have a mortgage and two dogs and your 35….and…..and so……I guess what I’m saying is those are not necessarily reasons for not doing something. I’m thinking if you really are having a longing then here are some important questions that I lifted from somewhere (don’t remember where though)
1. What do you want more than anything right now?
2. What’s holding you back from getting what you want? (maybe your mortgage and dogs and age - maybe)
3. What would motivate you in this process?
4. In the absence of perfection, what’s the best possible solution?
