germany!

at the end of march, i got an email from friends of mine asking when i would be staying with them in the upper peninsula for my sorta-annual 4th of july trip. and they also wrote that they were going to mittenwald, germany for a month, and they had an extra room i could stay in if i wanted to join them (for only 9 euro a night!).
at first, my reaction was: why would i want to go to bavaria? but then i realized: this is a really great opportunity to see a part of the world that isn’t on my list.
so i bought a plane ticket to go. i leave today.
we’re going to be hiking in the bavarian alps daily, so i’m bringing running shoes and outdoor gear. no dresses, no makeup, no fancy shoes… just the basics. i’m only bringing 1 polaroid camera and a small amount of film. and for the first time in 4 years, i will be unplugged from the internet for an extended period of time. i may send updates via twitter or facebook if we happen across internet access, but my hosts have said that it’s hard to come by.
have a wonderful weekend! i’ll be back next thursday.

I’ve been unplugged, too, and then I had a little analog blogging sent to my door with your postcard! I thought, “Jen’s off on another adventure!” and you had me smiling all day. Thank you for thinking of me, and for keeping me in the loop even when I couldn’t come and find you online!
