wires w.i.p, part 2

wires w.i.p
over the weekend i finished re-creating my wires polaroid digitally, and had a transparency made. i burned the screen, and dang it, my lines are too thin. you can see them on the screen (above), but when i print they barely show. so. yesterday i thickened up my lines, had another transparency made, and burned a new screen before i went to bed. this time it looks like the lines are thick enough. printing will commence tonight…

It looks great! I have no idea what you mean about making transparencies and burning screens, but I get the drift. Have fun printing!

sorry, i’ve been vague so the post doesn’t get wordy… i have the artwork printed onto a transparency at kinkos. then i coat the screen with photo emulsion (that’s the green you see on the screen above). when the emulsion is dry, i place the artwork (the transparency) onto the screen and expose it for 45 minutes under a light bulb, then rinse away the emulsion that wasn’t exposed, which reveals the design. next step: printing.

That makes sense! Thanks for the explanation. I’ve only done pre-set up screens before so the lingo was eluding me.

Oh Sweet Nellie – I AM IN LOVE!! I’m actually loving the look of your screen, with the white against the greenish/grey! Okay, since we aren’t going to have time to do a photo emulsion screenprinting this weekend, I’m begging you to do a tutorial with photos and steps sometime on the blog. PRETTY, PRETTY, PLEASE! I would even bake something delicious and mail it to you as a thank you!
