unfocused

i haven’t been able to focus on creativity for the last few weeks. the energy just isn’t there. the ideas are there! the supplies are there! but i just haven’t been able to produce. i will admit, tho, it feels ok to do nothing, take a break, watch 30 rock. here’s hoping i do find my focus soon.
some local creative inspiration:
birdxbird art auction the 7th annual exhibit and auction to benefit the birds. featuring work by 130 artists in all media. amazing artists. go! reception and silent auction, saturday february 21, 6-9pm northrup king building, gallery 322.

It’s ok to do nothing sometimes. Recharge the juices, adjust to the new schedule. If you force it, you won’t enjoy it.

Happy weekend to you too!
I am planning on doing something creative this weekend, nothing specific, but I have a long long ideas list. On the other hand I might stay in bed and eat bon bons, that’s also on my “to do” list.

I used to be married to a guy who thought sitting still was a sin. Even reading a book was a waste of time. One always had to be producing, creating, DOING. Learning or enjoying or reflecting just wasn’t enough. I had a hard time making him think anything I did was worthwhile.
Funny thing is, 15 years later I’m the one who’s always busy, and he’s a pot-smokin’, easy-going guy. He has to repress a lot of anger and energy to stay that still though. He’s a good friend now, though. Glad he’s not my mate.

Reload your batteries, or whatever they say. It’s a good thing to be able to do nothing and don’t feel bad about it, seriously. It’s healthy to rest. And it seems you have been very productive, judging by your archives.
I’ve just recently discovered your blog, as I did a search on printing.. and I really like your stuff! I’m primarily a knitter, but have just recently started to experiment on printing, in ‘real life’ I’m a political scientist working in public administration, but as you I dreamed of becoming an artist when I was a child… I added you to my blogroll, hope that’s okay:) Have a good weekend!

Fish, you are waaaay to hard on yourself. You have a full time contract plus other contract work to do from home. No wonder your brain needs to find a neutral gear and 30 Rock seems like a good one. Be kind to yourself and I bet your 4 legged kiddies enjoy hanging with you too.

I always think that if the ideas are there but not the will, better give it time. Otherwise youa re forcing it and that just doesn’t work…at least for me.
The pic is cool though…

The ‘time out’ is as much part of the process as the ‘frantic making’ - I generally just let it build until I’m annoyed enough to start working.

darn. missed them both!
breaks are always good to rejunivate. it’s hard to create when you’re forcing it.
