mugs

a few months ago, the lovely carina shared her porcelain decoration tutorial on her blog and i added it to my to-do list. since we’re getting closer to christmas, i thought i’d try to make a few as gifts. i ordered a couple of pebeo porcelaine 150 fine tip markers from dick blick, and while i waited for them to arrive, i picked up a few cheap mugs from ikea.
i only made 2, and they are both the same: there are 6 “flowers” on each, and every other stem spells out cocoa, coffee, and tea. perfect for the spiced hot chocolate i posted last week! and a good option for a future pARTy?
oh, check out anna’s post, ceramic painting, from saturday. we hadn’t talked about this project or carina’s tutorial, but we both happened to try it out and post about it within days of each other! must be something in the air…

we just went to a great little art exhibit in madison, georgia called “hand.craft.it.” it displayed the arts/crafts of 10 or so artists/crafters, and these woulda fit right in! speaking of, maybe you should do something like that in mpls! it was so neat to see these crafts on display as art.

I love them! Especially spelling out the words in the stems and the circle flower tops. Totally, a project for pARTy. The 2 pens I have are the thicker tipped ones and good for filler. I was shocked by the big display of them at Michaels – how have I not seen them before?

I’ve been admiring the ceramic transfer pieces by Skinny Laminx and Nina Invorm, but you need a kiln. This is a home friendly way to get the same effect – Awesome! And I love your designs! Those will make super Christmas gifts.

love the “tea” touch.
it inspires a song, “i’d love to have a cuppa with fishie, i’d love to have a cuppa with fish, it’s a drinking kind a weather and the company never ever gets dull, we drain the mugs by the fire while CT give the pups some love, i’d love to have a cuppa with fishie, ’cause fishie’s me mate!” the original song was by an aussie called slim dusty and it’s called i’d like to have a beer with duncan. see if you can hear the song.
still loving those cups. sigh one cannot find those brilliant pens anywhere….
