new mobiles

new mobiles
i was inspired to make mobiles for my etsy shop using driftwood i picked up on the shore of lake superior last march. so, yes, sometimes it takes me a while to getting around to doing stuff.

i’ve used my favorite patterns from recycled security envelopes, backed them with kraft labels, and cut circles (surprise!). i love the way they turned out, i just wish they were easier to photograph. after spending hours last weekend, attempting photographs in 3 different rooms, using morning, afternoon, and evening light, i finally settled. i’m still not entirely happy with the photos because i do think the mobiles are so much better in person, but one could go nuts trying to get the perfect shot.

I can so imagine these are terrible to photograph but I think you did a good job. I like the angle. And I also like the mobiles themselves of course.

oh my god, that is so bizarre. not sure if you saw the postcard swap photos i put up on Monday, but the woven postcard I received from Elly is (I’m pretty sure) made from security envelopes (which she collects). I thought it was serendipitous that she did a woven postcard (which I’ve done for this Monday’s anonymous postcard drop), but this is just getting freaky!!

fantastic way to show the paper off though! and the photo looks great!

Hmmmmm, does a perfectionist lurk within your easygoing facade?? I clearly see a beautiful mobile made from beautiful materials.

Nice pic! I know what you mean about the photographs, some aspects of a thing are just impossible to capture. But the mobile looks great.
