printing on fabric : august’s pARTy

last friday’s printing pARTy was so much fun! i only wish i had more space… it was tough for 7 of us to find room to spread out our projects, and deal with plates of fabric paint. but it was still fun! we ate lots of cheese. we drank wine. and we printed lots and lots of flour sack towels, a few tote bags, a t-shirt, a clothespin bag, fabric for curtains, and managed not to make accidental designs on the clothing we were wearing.
lots of pictures after the jump!
we started by cutting stencils in acetate, vellum, and freezer paper. we used templates from lotta prints, circle punches, and drew freehand:

once the stencils were cut, we applied the paint! we mixed acrylic-based fabric paints on old halloween paper plates, and used sponges and brushes to apply the paints onto the fabric:

jenn printed circles on a tote bag:

anna worked on a garbage truck t-shirt for her son, using a freezer paper stencil:

my sister used my circle blocks to print on fabric for curtains:

using a hair dryer, we were able to dry the prints pretty quickly in between colors. here are some off the finished projects!
hosta print & circle towel by jaime:

anna’s garbage truck t-shirt:

towel by kathryn, using a stencil from lotta prints and one that i drew:

leaf print towel by jean:

anna’s book bag — she drew the book stencil herself (i love her green toenails):

jean added leaf prints to her clothespin bag:

anna’s leaf print towel:

kathryn’s tote bag, using a stencil i made and circles:

jean’s fish towel, using fish stencils i drew:

and me? i didn’t make much, due to wine consumption and helping everyone else. however, i did a ton of printing on saturday and will show what i worked on soon!

Wow!
That looks like lots of fun!
Great results as well! Thanks for sharing all the photos, that really tells the story. (Except I still find it hard to believe no wine spills on the dish towels!)

Wow, gee you had fun on Friday night. Lot’s of great things were printed… My Friday night included the wine consumption but not the fun (Olympics aren’t really). Though while fun was being had on your corner of the globe, I was fliting around on the grass with the muse and bottle of home made bubbles, balls and in CT’s mind BICKIES!
S?? He was at the doctor.
