from ayama
last week a big package arrived from a sweet friend in australia. inside:

a handbag, made with koi fabric, made by friend and supervised by her mum (thanks, donnie!).

a sashiko kit! yay! i cannot wait to curl up on the couch and get sewing. it’s got koi on it, too!

ayama made this pouch, and embroidered the decorative elements… i have already filled this one up.

there was lots and lots of inspiration in both magazine and book form (and chocolate form!). there were little notes and drawings from her daughter… and that little fish at the top of the photo? it’s a ring!
i’m sure you heard the brew-ha-ha over the astrological shift. for a while there, i went from an aries to a pisces, which would explain the whole fish thing… but now that the dust has settled i think i’m an aries again. can i be an honorary pisces?
thank you, ayama. xo

i forgot the most important thing! unlike most fabrics, DON’T wash the sashiko cloth until you’re done with the embroidery. the ink is water-soluble and will disappear!

fun mail – hopefully that’s helping push those winter blahs out of the way!
