gus’s portrait was painted by local artist kat corrigan during her 30 dogs in 30 days event in july. the portrait was painted from one of my favorite pictures of him, taken when he was around a year old. he was 14 when i put him down at the end of may. even though he was getting around slowly, his quality of life wasn’t what it used to be. he probably could have hung around a few more months but the thought of having a dog that cannot walk or get around like he used to upsets me. i miss the old guy.

about a month and a half ago, jenn forwarded an email about painter kat corrigan‘s 30 dogs in 30 days july 2012 project. i immediately contacted kat and asked if she could paint hannah and have her be the july 25th dog. i’ve always wanted a portrait of hannah (cheesy?) and july 25th is the 8 year anniversary of being her owner. you can read more about hannah’s arrival on kat’s blog. (i should commission her to paint gus, too!)

my comic relief… they keep my blood pressure nice and low. happy weekend!
one can look at dog butts for only so long. last night i brought my camera with me on our walk, to focus my attention on the little things around me. and to give me something other than dog butts to look at.
…from me & the doggies. posting will be light over the next week and a half. hope santa visits, hope you eat lots of yummy food, hope you are able to be with the ones you enjoy. xoxoxo, jen
see cute grey dress at target. oooh and ahhh. discover they don’t have your size. order it online. pay $4.98 for shipping. after it arrives 5 days later, eagerly try it on. decide the length, 2 inches below the knees, looks too matronly for your youthful 30-something years. take it to a tailor, pay $26.75 to have it hemmed 3 inches. voilà, $56.72.
so much for being frugal. sigh.
happy valentine’s day with love from gus, dad’s dog daisy, and hannah.
merry christmas from me, and the studio dogs: hannah, the one-eyed mutt and gus, the patient lab.
have a wonderful holiday! regular posting will resume after the new year.
shane and i stopped at the red wing art festival on the way home from buying pumpkins and apples last saturday. i was so happy to see holmquist pottery there! they’ve been a favorite of mine for years, and are regular exhibitors at the uptown art fair. i just love the color and illustrations – they’re cute, without being too cartoony. i’ve got 2 of their treat jars (one holds treats for me, the other holds milk bones), and decided i need a new tea mug for work that reminds me of my dogs:
